Presented by the Commemorative Air Force, the B-17 Flying Fortress Texas Raiders is one of only three remaining that are actively touring in the U.S. today. This aircraft was the first Flying Fortress to be restored solely for the sake of education and use as a flying museum, and is an accurately restored B-17, bristling with machine guns and featuring period-specific equipment.
Hosted by Eisenhower Airport and the Friends of DOC, the visiting aircraft will also include the T6/SNJ Texan, the advanced trainer in which thousands of airmen trained for combat. Both warbirds are notable for their historic importance and level of restoration, and will offer cockpit tours and flights to the public.
The public is invited to enjoy on-board tours and warbird flights with the aircraft crews at
B-29 DOC Education and Visitors Center, 1788 S Airport Road, Wichita, KS 57209.
- Cockpit tours will be conducted from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM Monday and from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Tuesday and Wednesday, excluding flying times.
- Admission to the event is $10 per adult, $5 for children under 12, and $20 for a family of up to five and includes access to both aircraft for cockpit tours.
- Fans who want the ultimate Flying Fortress experience should make reservations now for one of the limited number of flights on the iconic bomber.
- Seats on the T6 Texan are $380 and seats on the B-17 start at $525.
